Do come and visit the church and join us at one of our services. All are welcome.
St Leonard's Church in Woore is part of the Benefice of St. Chad's, Norton-in-Hales and St. Leonard's, Woore with Aston and is situated in North Shropshire close to the borders of both Cheshire and Staffordshire - in fact 'Woore' means 'place of boundaries'!
Our Calling by God: "To reflect the openness, love, joy and life expressed in the grace of God given to us through our Lord Jesus Christ."
There is a very committed core of members who continue to worship and serve within the church. There is a dedicated ministry to children and good links have been established with the primary school.
There is a heart to develop the life of the church in a contemporary setting. The main morning services all use Common Worship material. A monthly Space on a Sunday morning called 'GodSpace' has been introduced. This a more informal time to learn more about God where fellowship is encouraged during a refreshment break in the middle when there is also an activity for the children.
The Parish Church was built in Victorian times; its white plastered exterior giving a striking appearance. The simple, plain open interior, seats approx 250 people. There are toilet facilities and a small utility area. There is also a sound and induction loop system installed.
The parish consists of the communities of Woore, Pipe Gate, Irelands Cross, Aston and part of Onneley with surrounding farmland. The current population is approx 1400 and continues to rise.
Woore is now a predominantly younger commuter and retirement community together with some of the older agricultural community. The village has a County Primary and Nursery School, village hall, and chapel; other facilities include a pub, hairdresser, village store with Post Office and artisan bakery; there are numerous community activities.
The church maintains strong and close links with the Methodist Church and a number of united services take place, including Remembrance Sunday, GodSpace and the 5th Sunday united service. All of these events help the
spirit of friendship, fellowship and family within the village and
Church life. From November 2022 the Methodist Church will be open as a Warm Space on a Monday and Thursday (see events for times).
